Athletes, like most people, tend to focus more on what they did poorly compared to their own personal strengths. It isn’t the easiest thing to do, without practice. The mind plays tricks on us and it is hard to not believe those thoughts. Such strong thoughts that are hard to ignore at times. All your thoughts are negative and you are trying to find how to make them a little less negative. It’s hard to do, isn’t it?

It is time to convert the negative thoughts into positive sayings. Instead of, “Why haven’t I quit yet” to “I play hard and train too hard to give all this up.” How did I do this? I’ll show you:

Your way to Success:

  1. List your strengths
  2. List your personal traits
  3. List your characteristics

This list should be about basketball, school, and life. Once you make a list, you need to put a deeper meaning to it. Add a hand wave, hit your chest, fist pump to the sky. Whenever you are thinking about how to get to success, think of your list, do your movement, and you will be in the zone for anything life throws at you!
