Mental toughness and confidence go hand and hand even though they are different from one another. Is there a time when you have used mental toughness and confidence in a situation of stress?
Example:
After high school, I have been applying to many different colleges to play basketball at. I been going many campus tours and trying to stay in contact with the universities. Most of the time I do not hear anything back from the coaches or the university. I have applied to so many places, that I lost count. From not hearing back from the schools, it really tests your confidence levels once being rejected so many times. I do not want to waste my time applying to places that do not even look at my application.
I quote that I try to rehearse in my head: “If athletes cannot cope with this they are not mentally tough”.
Whenever I noticed my confidence was at all time low, I decided to become mentally tough. I had to keep reminding myself that school searching takes time and I will find a school within time. If I quit now, I will never get to go a college that I desire. I decided to boost my confidence by continuing to network, ask questions, and apply to more schools.
Was there a time where you have been too confident or not confident enough? When did this happen and what happened when you were feel too confident or not confident enough?
Example:
There was many times when I was overconfident. I thought the game was going to be easy because I knew the team was not very good and we have won past games against that particular team. Whenever the game started, I realized I was a little more relaxed than I should have been and let some players score on me because I was being lazy on defense.  By the end of the game, the score was really close, or we lost. My coach was not happy and clearly the rest of the team was not either. This made going to practice and even the next game tough from not being confident enough. I was not able to play at my optimal level from lack of confidence.
I would not have motivation if I was not mentally tough and confident. The only reason why I continued to try to achieve my goals that I wanted to accomplish is because I believe in myself. I know things take time and being rejected is common until finally something great comes along. I see what hard works does to my family and friends. It gives me confidence that I will be where I need to be one day.
