When it comes to sports, building relationships is something that needs to improve. You will want to have a good relationship with your teammates, parents, teammates parents, coaches, coaches family, opponents, athletic trainers, fans, referees, and even yourself.
Well, you are properly asking why does building a good relationship with all these people become important? Do you really need to build a relationship with your coaches family, the opponents, and referees? The answer is YES. You should build relationships with the people that are always surrounding you.

The reason this is very important is because people that have a relationship with you will look after you. If you give a little, you with most likely receive back.

I do not want you to build a relationship with others just so you can receive special treatment and I do not want you to expect things from others as well. This should be done with the kindness of your heart and improving yourself as well. Additionally, people will appreciate the extra effort you out there to have a conversation with them.

Let’s say you see your athletic trainer before ever practice. There job is to make sure you are ready to perform and feel your best. Something simple you can do is make or buy a thank you card at the end of the season, make them homemade dessert, or simply be corporate when you are in the athletic training room. I little appreciation can go a long way.

With simple acts of kindness like this, you will be in a more positive mood. When you have more of a positive mood, competition play will start to improve. Isn’t it amazing how a small relationship can improve how you feel about yourself?
